Bees Knees Sponsors are able to help fund Staff Mini Grants, Enrichment activities, and Class Field Trips!

One of the PTA’s favorite programs is Staff Mini Grants, where we are able to support classroom needs that enrich each student’s learning experience. Every year, we are able to offer more grants as our donations and sponsors grow. Berkman students participate in two 6 week Enrichment sessions each year. Friday mornings start with an Enrichment class of the student's choosing where they are able to participate and learn about: violin, sewing, robotics, run club, 3D printing, cooking, science discovery, Minecraft Education, makeup design, soccer, and so many more! The students really enjoy these rotating sessions and we want to ensure they are fully-funded. The PTA is also able to cover costs associated with student field trips - which are not only fun, but also have been proven to be essential in growing the whole child.

Beehive Sponsors are able to support our Book Vending Machine, Book Fair, and Field Day!

The Berkman PTA was awarded a Moody Foundation Grant in the fall of 2024 for a Book Vending Machine. The students LOVE the ability to be awarded a token to choose their own book to keep from the vending machine. 

The PTA sponsors purchasing books at the twice a year book fair for students who may not be able to afford a book on their own. 

In the spring, the PTA rents inflatables and purchases popsicles for the students on Field Day. The students love participating in Field Day and enjoy cooling off with their popsicles.

Honeycomb Sponsors are able to help us show how much we appreciate our teachers and staff!

We love our teachers and staff and want to show them how much we love them each month by catering their breakfast or lunch. It’s a fun special treat that the teachers and staff greatly appreciate!

Pollen Sponsors are able to help with our classroom snack program and organization expenses. 

Berkman is a Title One school with about 80% of the students on free and reduced lunch, and many of our families are not able to bring a snack to school. Snacks have been covered by teachers, and we want to take this cost off their shoulders. The PTA is able to purchase snacks at cost, so your money is going further! One week of snacks for the school costs about $250. 

Our organization also has other administrative costs such as RRISD Council of PTAs dues, insurance, and other costs associated with keeping us going year to year.

In-kind donations and benefits will vary based on what the donation is! Berkman has 500 students and 85 staff members.
